A new HVAC system is a significant expense — typically $5,000–$15,000 depending on the system type, home size, and contractor. The decision to replace rather than repair usually comes from one of three situations:
1. The system has failed completely and repair cost is not economically sensible 2. The system is approaching end of life and repeated repairs are accumulating 3. The homeowner wants improved efficiency, comfort, or a specific new feature
